ACMI launched their amazing Tim Burton retrospective last week, showcasing the director’s career from his very first super 8 films and illustrations to recent 3D blockbuster Alice in Wonderland. In addition to costumes and preliminary sketches there are notes on character development, his very first rejection letters from Disney (he was still in school) to unpublished children’s book illustrations and excerpts from his high school notebooks. An absolute must for film buffs, art lovers or anyone who grew up knowing the terror of Beetlejuice.
The Tim Burton exhibition is on display until October 10, 2010 at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image in Melbourne.
