Kilian Martin Skate Regeneration

Laura Bannister | 22 November 2010

It doesn’t matter if the closest you’ve got to a skateboard is the occasional side-step on the street, if you have eyes in yo’ head, you’re going to froth on Brett Novak’s latest short film. The Chicago born and bred director captures the newest darling of freestyle skating, Kilian Martin, in moments of pure brilliance as he cruises through Barcelona. Novak brings a definite equanimity to the art of skating, creating an almost organic feel whether the board is scraping against monuments of hard industrialism or a dilapidated, empty suburban swimming pool. This is summertime bliss.
