Chain Mail, True Self

The Jacky Winter Group and Melbourne’s GPO have reinvented chain mail. The Chain Mail: True Self is all the fun of an original chain letter, without the pressure of having to decide to send it on to 50 people or die. This time, an art board is sent to artist number 1 who works their artful magic and sends it (san death threats) to artist number 2. It goes on and on until the artwork is returned to Melbourne’s GPO via post.

The artworks will feature illustration, photography and fashion design by artists Beci Orpin, Kelly Thompson, James Gulliver Hancock, and about 47 others. The theme is self-image and transformation, and all profits from the event will be donated to (a real) charity, Fitted for Work. Each work will be sold for $200 to help disadvantaged women find employment.

The exhibition is held on Level 1 of Melbourne’s GPO from Thursday May 31 to Sunday June 24, and entry is free.

So, now that you’ve read this all the way to the end, pass it on to 10-15 people in the next 5 minutes or little girl ghosts will jump on your bed while you sleep. Just kidding. But seriously, pass it on.
