Eighteen-year-old Melbournite Kristie Webster has won us over with her sweet, whimsical and dream-like illustrations of big-haired, sea-faring maidens.
Her simple yet poetic drawings remind us of the innocent pleasures of childhood- dressing up in Mum’s high heels, red lippy and pearls, building paper boats and colouring-in.
And we’re not the only ones who think so- Lifeblood Clothing, known for their nostalgic prints that capture the beauty of the everyday, have converted Krisite’s designs into a too-cute cotton t-shirt dress for their 2011 winter range.
Kristie’s work has also be snapped up by Mint Magazine and Freak Show Online, and been exhibited in Melbourne’s Clement Meade Gallery- Pretty impressive for a first year Visual Arts student. We have a feeling we’ll be seeing more of this talented young lass in the years to come.
In the meantime, check out her cute as blog and lovely portfolio of photos.
