Kimbra is now a 2012 Archibald Prize finalist. Well, sort of. The shortlisted entry was painted by Vincent Fantauzzo, who has also brought his sumptuous portrait to life in a short film set to Kimbra’s song ‘The Build Up’. The doll-like chanteuse sits on the edge of a bed in a tableau vivant-style scene of intoxicating jazz age beauty. The film was shot in the Victorian ambiance of The Hotel Windsor in Melbourne.

Fantauzzo has won many accolades, including the People’s Choice Awards at the 2008 Archibald Prize for his depiction of actor Heath Ledger.

The 2012 Archibald Prize winner will be announced 30 March and the exhibition is open to the public from 31 March to 3 June at the Art Gallery of NSW.
