Roman Coppola’s Screenplay Competition

Have you been trying to think of what to do with that 10-minute screenplay you wrote? You know, the one that was inspired by travel, set in a W Hotel, and features the Intel-inspired Ultrabook as a central character that you thought you’d never use?

Well, Roman Coppola (co-writer of two of our fave movies, Moonrise Kingdom and Darjeeling Limited) and his production company, The Directors Bureau, are looking for that exact screenplay so they can make a movie with you. So you should fish the script out of your recycling bin – it’s about to come in handy.

We must warn you, people all over the world are writing scripts at this very moment that are all under 10 minutes long, set in a W Hotel and feature the Ultrabook. We all know yours is great, but to make it fair, three winning scripts will be chosen and judged by Roman Coppola, Jeff Baena, Michael Pitt, Chloe Sevigny and a panel of others.

The winners will travel with The Directors Bureau to an international W location and their films will be premiered at red carpet events, along with a fourth film that Coppola is working on himself.

If you’ve been waiting for your big break, this could definitely be it. Roman wants you to take the opportunity to “be bold, to push boundaries and to think of ideas which are totally unique. As Thomas Edison said: ‘Hell, there are no rules here – we’re trying to accomplish something.’”

There are actually quite a few rules, but you get the idea.

There’s more information about how to submit your screenplay here.
