Thurston Moore is bringing his solo record to Australia in October. Demolished Thoughts is a change in gear from the ’90s Sonic Youth sound. As a solo artist, Moore has taken a more folky, dream-like direction.
Regarded as one of the greatest guitarists of all time, Moore formed the highly influential Sonic Youth with Lee Ranaldo and Kim Gordon in 1981. Their albums Daydream Nation and Goo altered the music landscape of the ’90s forever.
His new solo album was produced by long time friend and fellow musician, Beck Hansen (famous for his 1993 hit, Loser).
Moore will be coming to Australia for a Melbourne Festival performance but Australian fans will have the opportunity to witness the legendary songwriter in Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth too.
Here is one of Thurston’s singles from his new record, Demolished Thoughts:
Friday, 26 October 2012 – Sydney – Hi Fi
Saturday, 27 October 2012 – Brisbane – Hi Fi
Monday, 29 October 2012 – Adelaide – The Gov
Tuesday, 30 October 2012 – Perth – Rosemount Hotel
Thurston will also perform at Hamer Hall as part of Melbourne Festival.
