Issue 22 kick started with a fierce growl from our furry friends who were killed for the purposes of taxidermy. Taxidermy is the general word for the many methods to create lifelike, three-dimensional animal mannequins. The practice of taxidermy dates back as far as ancient Egypt, when Pharaohs loved their pet kitties sooo much, they would have them mummified and entombed with them.
Moving onto another creature – living and human - that knows how to growl, is our cover girl M.I.A. Born in Sri Lanka, M.I.A escaped her hometown in fear she was going to be killed. The singer these days doesn’t have to fear for her life, but rather sing about her life and the Tamil Tigers who spread terror across Sri Lanka.
We also saw another successful year of supporting Australian fashion at L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival. This year our brother publication, Dazed and Confused also participated in our annual Independent Runway show, which saw designers like Michelle Robinson, Thurley and Material Boy grace the runway.
Enjoy!
