Cleopatra’s Bling

‘Hello from snowy Istanbul’, she said, and we were hooked.

Olivia Cummings is an ex-pat jewellery designer and head honcho at Cleopatra’s Bling. Originally hailing from Melbourne, Cummings did a five-year stint in Paris before packing up and hightailing to Turkey, the land of carpet salesmen, Hulk Hogan strength coffee, and of course them gems. “I’ve always been fascinated by crystals and gems and wanted to show them to the world while still keeping them in a rather whole and un-touched form so that they didn’t become too commercial,” Cummings says. “I think that we all need to be reminded of the perfection in the imperfect.”

Fan of boheme jewels and big beautiful rocks? Well, we have in our clutches the latest Cleopatra’s Bling collection, shot in Paris by local photographer Emile Dévoit Proust. Yes, his name is Proust, which we can only imagine brought a lot of gravitas to the vibe of the day. “It certainly brought another dimension to the shoot. He is a man with much artistic vision and is passionate about what he does so maybe he had another life way back when as a French philosopher,” Olivia jokes.

Aiming to bring out the softer sides of the city, which Olivia believes are coaxed out when winter arrives (and maybe it has just a little something to do with the retreat of the summer crowd), the new season of Cleopatra’s Bling looks gorgeous and so deluxe we want to bow and give it the old medieval peasant’s cry of ‘We’re not worthy, we’re not worthy.’ Join us in this self-demeaning exercise – take a look at some of our favourite Cleopatra’s Bling pieces in the gallery, then dive into the full look book below.
