Doe Deere Interview

By Tammy Croucher | 18 February 2011

She loves Lady Gaga, strawberry Mentos and colour. Lots of it. Meet Doe Deere, the woman behind the fantastically fun make-up brand Lime Crime.

TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF…
My name is Doe Deere, I was born and raised in Russia and moved to NYC in 1998 along with my mother and little sister. I am primarily known for my work as a make-up artist, entrepreneur and (I’d like to think) for my style. My goal is to inspire young women around the world to pursue their dreams, no matter how unrealistic.

WHAT IS YOUR WORKSPACE LIKE?
Colourful and messy! My home office has purple striped walls and from my desk lamp dangles a silver star. I also have a corkboard with all the letters I received from my fans and customers to remind me every day why I do this.

TELL US ABOUT LIME CRIME…
Lime Crime is a make-up company I masterminded in 2008 because I couldn’t find makeup that was bright enough and cute enough for my tastes. To me, quality is just as important as packaging and I wouldn’t be caught dead with a lipstick in a plain black tube!

WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
Fairy tales and the power of imagination. I believe that anything is possible if you want it bad enough. I was also inspired by make-up’s ability to transform a plain face into something utterly fantastical!
