Paris Ready-to-wear Fashion week is ending today. A little snap from the Jardin des Tuileries where Chloe showed its new designs to a super stylish crowd yesterday. Pictured here, British designer Kesh.
It’s time once again to throw off the metaphorical shackles of winter; the dapper fitted trench, thick patterned stockings and token neck scarf (but since every myspace-savvy teen and his dog are wearing those now, I’ll bet your glad to lay that one to rest) and embrace the uninhibited freedoms of spring attire. Following a throng of flourishing designer partnerships, Sportsgirl, Australia’s own little
Topshop, are now set to bring the charm of Cohen et Sabine to their stores for us lucky ladies to lap up. The luxury collection, inspired by the 1972 Goldie Hawn flick,
Butterflies are Free, is all whimsical crotchet, cotton lace and sequins, a delightful mish-mash of sharp 60’s modernity and yeah, you guessed it, ‘vintage’ glamour. But no matter how generic the delineative, these designer pieces are so hot they could melt faster than a Bubble-o-Bill in a solarium. Expect cascading maxi dresses in bold prints, short shift skirts and flowing silhouettes (oh mannnn, count me in).The limited edition garments range from $170 - $350 and are hitting Sportsgirl stores this October.
Getting dolled up and fabulous is going to be much easier this Spring thanks to the new collaboration with renowned makeup artist Napoleon Perdis and chic chain store Target. With the designers for Target concept proving its massive success with the likes of Stella McCartney, Zac Posen and Collette Dinnigan, it’s decided to extend to beauty and the Aussie artist to the A-list is of course, the natural first choice. Napoleon has released his
NP Set cosmetics collection for Target in honour of this move, and the range features a fabulous array of make-up products and tools to extend Target’s high-end beauty offering. Inspired by exotic locations, celebrities and the empowering real woman,
NP Set helps to achieve a series of looks including rebel, sleek, smart, soiree, glam and more. Perfect for alternating our many looks,
NP Set works with Target to continue to democratise fashion and is available nationally from October 16th. Are you ready? Well then, Get Set and Go…to Target and the Napoleon look.
When we were young, we used to play dress ups in our mums and grandmothers wardrobes, we donned the clothes that defined the defining moments of their lives and we felt like someone. There is something amazing about clothing with a story behind it and that is where vintage becomes an art of expression. When you trawl the vintage shops and combine the amazing pieces you are transporting yourself to another time through style that is timeless. We all know that fashion goes round in circles right now designers are loving the feather classics of the 1930’s and reviving the decadence of 17th century brocade so it seems logical that the best places to find the one off runway pieces is not the glossy boutiques but in the vintage shop that looks like your grandmas wardrobe. The best thing about these garments is that they are open to reinterpretation, just like the make do and mend times of post world war two an incredible outfit can be created from the bits and pieces that was another person’s wardrobe clean out, wedding gowns can become stylish cocktails dresses embellished with bits of 1930’s lingerie and cardigans can become stylish patchwork knit dresses. So next time you want to stand out research your favourite designer then hit the vintage shops and make the classic designer look you loved classically you. To achieve stunningly different results you must have a stunningly different approach.
Visit these great vintage haunts in your spare time and take a journey in style.

Best known for their denim and fashion, fashion mavericks Diesel bring their signature sexy styling to the world of scent with Fuel for Life. Combining star anis, vintage raspberry and heliotrope for him and blackcurrant, jasmine and patchouli for her, the fragrances are pretty much the olfactory equivalent of skin-tight denim and red-hot lust. The packaging has also got it going on - the men’s bottle is wrapped in a leather and the girls’ sleeved in lovely lace (you know I love me some L&L). One day, when I have the bank account of Brangelina and the legs of Magdalena Frackowiak, (it'll happen) I
will own this dress. The Balmain s/s 09 collection was shown at Paris Fashion Week yesterday and every straight rock-inspired garment has me droolin' on my keyboard. See it at Style.
You know what? Curses to you Lily Allen; I hope you fall over in your super fire Cesare Paccioti Harlequin heels and are forced to give them away.....to me.
