Dirty GORGEOUS Things
Posted 28th Nov 2007 by Madeleine Hinchy

Beautiful lingerie might be a secret passion or a thing you lust after but seldom can afford, but whatever the state of your smalls, it shouldn't stop you from visiting Dirty Pretty Things.
The boutique is decked out as a Parisian boudoir fit for a lingerie Queen. Owner Melissa Gallagher has made lingerie from the pretty in pink to the delectably naughty her speciality. Labels include Roberta Glass, Willow, Chantal Thomas and Damaris. Shoppers can also indulge in swim suits with a vintage touch, the odd piece of burlesque paraphernelia and now book their own Salon Burlesque evening where they can sip champagne while learning the subtle art of lady like seduction!
Silk, lace, canapes, tease... That's no ordinary shopping experience.
Dirty Pretty Things, 225 Glenmore Road, Fiveways, Paddington.

From now on, your new favourite website (beside this one of course) should be Leeloo.com.au. Party Promise
Posted 12th Nov 2007 by Katie May Ruscoe
Last week I posted about the birthday of Darlinghurst’s favourite boutique; Capital-L. Unfortunately, due to the shitty weather of the day (and on Melbourne cup day!), their killer sounding block-party was postponed. Since then though, I have been assured that the party will be back out swinging this Thursday. Head down to 333 South Dowling Street from 3.p.m and have yourself a wee dancey-dance to tunes from the Ro-Sham-Bo, Health Club and Hoops D.J’s. You can also admire Capital-L’s fantastic new community garden mural; gifted to the shop by some of Sydney’s best underground artists.
What's Mine is Yours
Posted 6th Nov 2007 by Millie Ross
Try not drool on your keyboard as you survey the stunning Autumn Winter collection from London-based Australian lass Katherine Pont's ladies clothing label Mine. With gorgeous greys, plums and rusty hues it tells the story of a 'Damsel In This Dress', a girl whose long tangled locks get swept by salty waves as she rides her parasol across the sea top. Brimming with whimsy and interchangeable layers, stay tuned for Spring Summer oh 8, entitled "I Gave my Love a Papercut". The fairy tale continues with the story of a paper doll, who wakes from her sketch pad and climbs into the dress up box that is Mine. Kewp as pie and sweet as sugar plums!
Available now at Dobry Den Sydney amongst others.
Happy B-Day Capital-L!
Posted 5th Nov 2007 by Kym Naimo
Tomorrow, Sydney’s favourite hidden fashion gem, Capital L, turns seven and to say happy birthday, a group of talented local artists- including Jonathan Zawada, XXX’Zilla and Miss Erin Forsyth, have given the boutique a beeeeautiful aerosol makeover. To celebrate their new face, the South Dowling Street boutique will be
holding a mad cool birthday block-party! Weather permitting, the
festivities will start 3pm tomorrow outside the store and, as all good
block-parties should, will spill out into neighbouring laneways until
the police break that shit up. So tonight pray for good weather and,
even if the party isn't on tomorrow (I'll keep you posted on that
one), go down to say happy birthday and check out the amazing wall art
anyway.
Crazy Carri And Her Cassette Playa's
Posted 28th Oct 2007 by Katie May Ruscoe
Somebody forwarded me this clip and, upon viewing it, I almost choked on my party whistle. With it’s MO reading something like “It’s about hacking reality, a hallucinogenic infection / Krayola injection - this season of wotsit orange, fluro snot green electric blue and Ribena purple!!” it’s not hard to see how Cassette Playa; the label from London based stylist Carri Mundane, earned a fan in MIA; poster girl for the post-Klaxons New Nu-Rave explosion. Mundane (who is also a fashion contributor to U.K hipster bibles I.D and SuperSuper) has been instrumental in M.I.A’s Kala-era, space refugee look, having styled her music videos as well as produce her website and the cover art for Kala.
The retina bashing video you see above is for Cassette playa’s AW 07/08 collection- entitled “Killa”, and was created by London collective CYMK Hole (Ho Ho Ho).
If you like what you see, you can order cassette playa from the website, or, hunt it down at Ksubi.
