Networking Done The Proper Way
Posted 8th Nov 2007 by Tara McGrath

Social Networking. It seems to be the buzz of word of 2007. You can network on Facebook, MySpace and Bebo. According to these guys, the definition of social networking is the use of a website or event to connect with people who share personal or professional interests. Everyone has done it, even if you don’t think you have. Ever joined a group on Facebook bringing together people from your long-lost primary school? We’re all becoming experts at it, and this is no bad thing. It increases job opportunities and can get ‘you in the know’.

Now, Greta Donaldson of Prospect 360, has organized a proper, official social networking opportunity for media people. If you ever wanted to break into the industry and you live in Melbourne, you should attend the Prospect 360 Coffee Catch-up, Mixing it with the Big Wigs Morning. There will be representatives from Melbourne Victory, The Sunday Age, Nova 100 and many others. Tickets are $30 and include coffee, speeches from the Big Wigs, as well as an opportunity to mingle.

Thriller in Manila

Ok, well it's not actually Manila - but it is the Phillippines so you know what I mean.. Even if Michael Jackson wasn't sent to prison at least his moves were.  Check out this rehabilitation programme in Cebu where prisoners are learning to dance in unison to 80's hits by MJ and the like.  Better to be a zombie than bored it would seem.

Look out Johnnie & Kevin 07 -  serial killer Ivan Milat's sister-in-law is running for parliament. Getting the attention of the mainstream news channels and pro-gun groups alike, Lisa Milat, the Liberty and Democracy Party's (LDP) ACT Senate candidate, (& the wife of Milat's brother Walter) is on the campaign trail. Although LDP no doubt has many points on its agenda, all things considered it certainly made for some fun news grabs over my Vita Brits this morning hearing her talk about a more relaxed approach to gun control & legalising euthanasia... WHAT WOULD YOU ASK BETH DITTO?
Posted 2nd Oct 2007 by Millie Ross
What would would you ask the NME crowned Coolest Person in Rock, guardian columnist and the raucous and souful front woman of The Gossip, Beth Ditto, if given the opportunity? The mind boggles.
Well, now YEN is giving you the chance to pose  that burning question to probably one of the most interesting and outspoken people working in music at the moment. Only the best of the bunch will make the final cut.
Send your questions to mross@ptmg.com.au by Friday Oct 5th and include your full name and where you're from.
