Whadda u mean? Canberra is unreal Keating!
Posted 2nd Jul 2007 by Billy Judd
I didn’t peg Paul Keating for my saviour but his latest call to move Parliament House to Sydney certainly puts him in the running. The Kster considers there to be an ‘air of unreality about Canberra’, indeed in a city where nite clubs and Soviet style public service buildings become one and the streets are as empty as the backroads of Siberia by 10pm on a Friday you gots to give Pauly K. cred for trying to get the pollies up to his Potts Point crib for some serious ravey chow down fun times. UNREAL!

Whose Water Is That?
Posted 31st May 2007 by Rosie Walker

Bravo to Italy for pulling their funds out of the World Bank's water privatisation programme on the grounds that giving ownership of water – yes, the stuff every human being needs for basic survival – to profit-making companies is a bit barmy. Residents of poverty stricken Soweto, Johannesburg are taking their city authorities to court this month as they’ve decided they’d like to be able to flush their toilet without having to sacrifice the weekly food budget. Pre-paid water meters were forced on the city’s homes in January, meaning the poor can no longer afford to wash their hands – a marvellous predicament for a country already staggering under the weight of serious health problems.
