If you didn't pick up already, I am a MASSIVE Biggy fan girl. So you can understand how excited/nervous I am about this biographical fim. Man I hope it's good.
Breaking Bad
Posted 1st Oct 2008 by Fanny Bostrom

Tomorrow Im leaving for a little vacation to my homeland Sweden. Im so excited! So today I took the day off from drawing to hang out with the boys, Billy and my brother Victor. After some shopping and getting some stuff for the trip we decided to chill at home with some thai food and tv. We started to watch the tv series "Breaking Bad" and I must say it's quite moreish! It's about this old fuddy duddy chemistry teacher Walter White who finds out he has stage III cancer and two years to live. With a new sense of fearlessness and an acute need of money for his family he starts to cook meth with one of his old pupils. This series is fantasticly funny and dark with lots of suspense when the typical underdog, Walter, starts fighting back!
This looks gooooood

Please Excuse my ignorance but prior to finding out about this film I had never heard of Harvey Milk. For all those as dim on American politics as I, Harvey Milk was the first openly gay American man to be elected to public office. The year was 1977 so, even though it was in San Francisco, you can imagine what a feat this was. Dude got assasinated a year later though. Directed by the always riveting Gus Van Sant, Milk is the first feature film to explore the life and times of Harvey Milk and it looks so good; not least because it stars both Sean Penn, James Franco and Diego Luna (my boys). Milk is due in cinemas early next year, in the meantime watch the trailer above.
Cults are F.R.E.A.K.Y

If you thought Tupperware was a cult ever since your mum gave up her job to sell over-priced coloured plastic to store left-overs in, wait to you see Beyond Our Ken. You might have heard about the Australian cult-group Kenja Communications after recent lawsuits citing sexual and emotional abuse during “energy conservation” sessions. Beyond Our Ken, involved recent Victorian College of the Arts graduate, Luke Walker joining the cult for six months to find out the intricacies of the group, and then making a documentary about it with Melissa Maclean. It’s disturbing, shocking and hilarious. It’s screening in Melbourne at the moment and is also available on DVD. The founders of the organization, Ken Dyers and Jan Hamilton are in this film, and just to paint a picture, I’d rather be stuck in a room with five million cockroaches the size of your forearm than these two freaks. See the movie to know why. It’s pretty obvious.
Burn after reading
Posted 18th Sep 2008 by Fanny Bostrom

Me and my little brother just saw Burb After reading at the movies. It's absolutely brilliant! So dark and funny, I love all the characters. From the sex crazed George Clooney to the dumb gym trainer played by Brad Pitt. If you haven't been to see this movie yet, you have to go!

Chucky's turning 20, and to celebrate two decades of killer dollie madness, MGM is releasing a special edition DVD complete with hoards of marching Chucky's roaming the streets of New York to spread the word. Eek.

After a successful 2 years running, the Optus one80project is open to a third year of submissions for all aspiring TV makers. The national competition gives anyone with a stand out idea for an hour long drama a shot at making it on the small screen (and no, reality TV doesn't count. Sorry!). Entries are judged by a panel including Alex Dimitriades and Emily Barclay, and the winner gets to pair up with MTV Productions to make their baby into an hour long pilot. They'll also win a load of Samsung gadgets and $10'000. So get rolling kids! Entries close November 10th.
