Can I kick it?
Posted 4th Sep 2008 by Katie May Ruscoe
Why, yes you can. The sydney finals for MTV Kickstart 2008 are on this Friday night! Like battle of the bands on performance-enhancing dsrugs, MTV Kickstart offers bands from around Australia the chance to, well, "Kickstart" their music careers. Those Sydneysider's looking for a slice of the SD&RR lifestyle are punk acts The Wahas and CHAINGANG; indie rockers Particles; newwave group The Magic Hands and bluesmen The Mischief. It would be wrong and simply lacking in community spirit if you didn't head along to Oxford Arts and show your support this Friday night so to get tickets, simply head to the Kickstart website and click on the big button that says GET FREE GIG TICKETS. easy.
Booooo Kanye!
Posted 2nd Sep 2008 by Katie May Ruscoe

Much to the chagrin of my boyfriend, I've never really gotten into Kanye West (I'm more of a hip hop classicist myself) but now - lumped right in there with shutter shades - I have a definitive reason why that even he can't argue with. If you'll allow me to borrow from Kayne's patented caps-lock blog technique (BTW, I'm typing so hard I might break my Mac book Air!!!!!!!!) WHAT THE HELL IS THIS!!!?

Meet Walter Meego...
Posted 2nd Sep 2008 by Lucy perrett

Walter Meego are Justin Sconza and Colin Yarck, a duo from Chicago Illinois
The lovely pair create disco pop tunes full of synth driven bass that will do more than get your toes tapping… Having checked out their website it became very apparent that these guys have something fresh to offer.. It’s starry skies in a tropical oasis and you are dancing …! Oh yes you are dancing..
They recently signed to new local indie label BANDROOM RECORDS alongside Black Kids, Calvin Harris and Peter Bjorn and John and are set to release their debut album
‘Voyager’ down under on
September 13.
Little Scout
Posted 1st Sep 2008 by Sigrid Brown
Little Scout are a great little poppy/folky/indie four piece who've been around since Autumn 08. They have a solid and devoted fan base that's growing by the day and they're winning more and more hearts with each show. They're pretty regular giggers around their Brissy home. They've got a few coming up;

Little Scout crept out of the shadows very cautiously in the Autumn of 2008. Its two main members Melissa and Patrick decided to lock themselves in a room, give themselves some time and see what they really sounded like by themselves. Little Scout emerged as fresh purveyors of fine pop music with a touch of fragility. Enamoured with a good dose of encouragement from their pals, and with the help of a triangle, casio beat and a tamborine, the band took to the bright lights of the stage in May 2008. The duo became four when good friends Kirsty, Miro and sometimes Cam were added to the Little Scout muffin mix, contributing dreamy clarinet, drums, triangle and harmonies. Suffice to say, Little Scout hasn't mastered sweet rock moves by any means, but they often try to smell nice and wear fancy shoes while performing. TV on the Radio are real good and that
Posted 1st Sep 2008 by Katie May Ruscoe

The Brooklyn group's last album, Return to Cookie Mountain, is one of my favourite ever; both for it's epic, sweeping, fuzzed-up beauty and the inclusion of the word "cookie" in the title. Baked goods aside, TV on The Radio are returning with their third album, Dear Science, later this month and if the first, all-over-the-internets single is anything to go by, I reckon it's going to be a wee ripper. Let's hope there's another Australian tour in the pipline also - in the meantime, listen to Dancing Choose here.
