While studying in Berlin Two years ago, artist Nadia Wagner met Christophe Laudamile; a perfumer for fragrance giant International Flavours and Fragrances. Having worked with scent in the fields of high fashion and couture, Laudamile introduced Wagner to a realm of fragrance production that goes beyond the limits of commercialism (does that include "Curious' by Britney Spears?) Now Nadia has used that knowledge in producing her first solo show "Urban Olfactics 1A/1B". In curatorial collaboration with Joel Mu, Urban Olfactics is a collection of conceptual fragrances alchemized by Nadia in an attempt to capture different aspects of the urban environment. Confused? Fascinated? Find out what it’s all about TONIGHT ONLY, from 6pm at Sydney’s Blank Space gallery.

Ever fantasied about Brendan Cowell reading a titillating tale to you - voice breathy, hands slightly clammy? What about seeing Dappled Cities band member, Tim Derricourt, getting hot under the collar over what's written on his quivering spiral pad? No?...... Me neither. But hopefully I have by now piqued your interest in an evening of erotic fan fiction at Surry Hills' Chalkhorse gallery. Presented as part of the Imperial Panda Festival, the night is pretty much self-explanatory - a bunch of Sydney's top writers coming together "to tackle our filthiest famous people fantasies". The event is one night only (whether you feel guilty about it the next morning is up to you), this Sunday Feb 3. As a heads up I can tell you that a friend of mine won't be reading his provocative, yet tasteful prose on an imagined encounter with Tim Rogers as it was considered "too tame". You have been warned.

Glassons (“House of G” as it is affectionately known) is somewhat of an
NZ institution, having provided Kiwi women with affordable basics and a
place in which to exercise their impulse-buy rights for years now. Over
the past six of these years, Glassons have also been helping Antipodean
women in another way – acting as a huge supporter of breast cancer
awareness through the annual release of it’s much coveted breast cancer
research trust T-shirts. The initiative sees a roster of local
designers (regular contributors include Karen Walker, Zambesi and Kate
Sylvester) create a unique t-shirt print for the chain - the tee’s then
go on sale at Glassons for around $30, with $10 of that going directly
to the Breast Cancer Research trust. So far the campaign has raised
over 2.7 million for the organization and - with designers Cybele,
Karen Walker, Zambesi, Workshop, Ruby, Trelise Cooper, Kate Sylvester
and competition winner; Jun Arita onboard - 2008 looks set to raise
more than ever. If theres a G.Lassons near you be sure to get one (or
maybe get a friend to send you one from NZ ?), not only do the tee’s
always become mad collecters items but they are for a great cause too.
Something a Bit Muse-Worthy

So, Muse took out the Triple J Hottest 100 for 2008 – wonder if the bookies saw that one coming? I can imagine the scene at my place; as the top three places were announced amongst much awkward DJ banter, was not dissimilar to that in other households/ backyards across the country - groups of antipodean youths, from the highly patriotic to the coolly apathetic, banded (beer in hand, Smiths on hand) in the quiet admiration of Daniel Johns newly frosted locks as he bravely conceded to Silverchair's second placing. Muse are one of those bands that I kind of missed the boat on (much like Arcade Fire – yes, I'll admit I do not like them) but apparently they have many many fans. The funniest thing to come out of this was the couple that committed to walking down the aisle to the number one song. Oops. Atleast it wasn't Operatior please aye?
Did you pick the outcome?

" Real Apple users emoting for the camera about how Macs changed their lives." Yes, it is a movie. Take from this trailer what you will; but remember - you don't know, "Only Steve knows".

“Baron Von Fancy is the most elusive and sought-after artist/designer in the entire world. Nay, the universe”, claims the bio. He actually ain’t that hard to find - I’m pretty sure he’s this guy - but hey; lets just keep the focus on his fine, fine wares. A very lovely person recently purchased the above tee shirt for me. As you can see, the graphic depicts the adorable scene of two baby wolves (I like to see them as brother and sister)…grooming each other….in a pocket!!!!! What you may not be able to tell is that the tee itself is a mesmeric baby-blue
tie-dye. Oh yes he did.
It looks like something one might have found in an Arizona tourist shop (one I Imagine smelling of sweat and incense and perhaps selling crystals and wind catchers also) circa ’93. And that is why I love it. Not only that; but when Mr Fancy lovingly packaged up my prize, he also included a bonus T-shirt that’s so spectacular I can’t even describe it without my fingers getting electric shocks (try get your head around the words purple, tie-dye, stallions, sunset), as well as a fistful of stickers. What a guy! So, don’t dare copy my tee - but do go to the website and ask yourself "Am I f*****g fancy enough to indulge in the true swank of Baron Von Fancy?"
Thurston Moore in Porn Scandal!!!

Haha - almost had you. Sensationalism aside, Moore has actually just made the soundtrack to one. Actually, not even that - apparently Richard Kern’s
Extra Action and Extra Hardcore is to be referred to as an artful piece of cinema based on "unpretentious, unadorned, and definitely undressed real women" who, I can only presume for arts sake, will each "roll around and do something interesting for a few minutes." Hmm. Anyone who’s picked up a copy of VICE in the past couple of years should be familiar with Kern’s soft-lit, porny inclinations – the guy has actually been around for years (he’s previously directed two of Sonic’s video’s and is also responsible the album cover of 1986’s Evol) but has seen a recent rise in notoriety as the world’s young tastemakers start to get a bit “over” Terry Richardson. The “non-porn” is due for a DVD release in the U.S this March; however, I’m sure will also be circulating the internet in no time – much to the delight, I’m sure, of discerning indie boys the world over who appreciate fine cinematography and the musical talents of Mr Moore.
