Pauline Auzou

Alas for Dazed and Confused former editorial coordinator, sniffing suncream will not put Paris on sea. After two years in Sydney, she headed back to France, not without shedding a pool of tears on her way home. Pauline is usually watching the absurd theatre that life is, trying to trap it with her camera, with a discreet and amused smile. She now lives in Paris and works in photography.

Kiss, Split & Tell

Burning out his love letters, tearing every single picture of her in pieces wishing her dead, how unoriginal and bland. When Olinka Vistica, a Croatian artist, broke up with her boyfriend fellow artist and joint curator, Drazen Grubisic, they created together the Museum of Broken relationships, collecting from split couples cherished items of a time when they were living what ended up to be a temporary "happily-ever-after" fairytale. For two years now, this concept has been a touring exhibition, displaying various sweet nothings, adding new ones in every city it went on. It seems people can develop a sense of over-creativity when it comes to failed relationships and the most unexpected and/or uncanny things can be a reminder of loving days gone by. There is a wooden leg from a Balkan war veteran who fell in love with a nurse in a field hospital. " The prosthetic had a longer life-span than the relationship" the donor has written next to the exhibit.
What Katie Wore

British fashionista Katie was blaming boyfriend Joe for not being romantic enough with her. To erase this outrageous accusation, he created a website dedicated to her and her true sense of style with daily post of her outfit du jour, Whatkatiewore.com.
The concept is straightforward as Joe puts it " Joes writes the blog. Katie wears the clothes", the challenge being for Katie not to wear a look twice. Not even a year after it starts, it's a big hit.
Katie's style is obviously full of whims and quirks, sometimes a bit over the top. ( I may be a bit of a fashion prude here.)
One more street style fashion blog, i can hear your painful sigh from here. True. But we couldn't left unnoticed Joe's conspicuous effort to make up the new ultimate form of love letter.

While we are still mourning our loved Polaroid camera, a digital solution has appeared to ease the pain: Poladroid. This free application that you can download on your computer, allows you to turn the blandest digital picture into the classic square faded-coloured image. A real Polaroid camera appears on the computer screen, you drag-and-drop the file in it, the rest is pure tricks and magic. A square instant picture comes out – accompanied with the signature noise, how more genuine could it be? – One click later and it is saved in your pictures file.

Too easy!

It feels like another step into the end of photograph as a print, as an object. So allow me to keep on mourning my little blue and noisy camera for now.
A Song To Go Please!

French website La Blogothèque's founders wanted to share and show music in a different way. So co-founder/director Vincent Moon started to film indie bands playing live out of classic music venues but instead in unique places and posted the videos on their website. The buzz didn't take too much time to spread and these Take-Away Shows as they were to be called, rapidly gained a huge fan base. Sydney band Dappled Cities have raised to this musical challege: in the streets of San Fransisco, they perform in the most spontaneous way three tracks of their sophomore album Granddance. Check that here.

For the release of his second solo album Furthers Complications, Brit pop legend and fomer Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker did a one-week artist residence in a Parisian art gallery in Montmartre. On Sunday, he gave a special outdoor gig playing his latest songs. Watch out, there are some serious dance moves to steal here.

An American in Paris

A summery bicycle ride, a delicious stop in a pastry shop or a secret rendez-vous with a handsome boyfriend, Miss Dior Chérie has a tight schedule today. Oscar-winning and Paris-based filmmaker Sophia Coppola has directed the new commercial for this signature Dior fragrance and has managed to recreate the dreamy-photographic style of her movies in less than a minute flat. She follows Belarusian model Maryna Linchuk, a modern Françoise Hardy, prancing around a postcard-style Paris, as the retro-tongue-in-cheek Brigitte Bardot’s song « Moi, je joue » adds even more lightness to the scene. It just works perfectly.
Watching the ad over and over, Oh la la, I could so easily picture myself dancing gracefully in the Jardin des Tuileries, my mouth full of macaroons, in a pretty pale pink sundress. Why do I never actually behave like that? This is supposed to be so French, right? Maybe French in the 60s? So many questions in my mind right now… I sight loudly thinking this sunny day on screen is nowhere close to my regular rainy-stuck-in-public-transports-surrounded-by-too-many-grumpy-weirdos days.
Believe or not, in a very strange way, it seems that Sophia and I do not share the same Parisian lifestyle.
