Alas for Dazed and Confused former editorial coordinator, sniffing suncream will not put Paris on sea. After two years in Sydney, she headed back to France, not without shedding a pool of tears on her way home. Pauline is usually watching the absurd theatre that life is, trying to trap it with her camera, with a discreet and amused smile. She now lives in Paris and works in photography.

Not only she is a pretty face that can act, but a pretty face that can sing. The doe-eyed Zoey Deschanel formed a band She and Him, two years ago with her partner-in-crime known as Matt Ward –the guitar guy in the picture-. She sings songs that sound like sweet romances from the sixties, even though they are 21st-century original. Sometimes, some choir harmonies sneak in, and it feels even more better. Their conspicuous act at the SXSW festival in Austin predicts a warm and enthusiastic welcome for their debut record Volume one. At this very moment, listening to it while scribbling these lines, it kinda make me want to grow a fringe and put on cherry red all over my lips while la-la-ing barefoot in the grass. What a feeling.

I have absolutely no idea on what happened inside the Grand Palais in Paris for the Spring/Sumer Chanel fashion show. And trying to chat the security guy up was completely useless. I would not get in! I may not have had the privileged glimpse at this season iconic French couture house new designs, but I saw a kind of unexpected spin-off of the original show just outside the venue. As limos were dropping their good share of preppy “happy few” gripping their invitation out, scoffing at me, I noticed that everyone is actually, uniformly clad in Chanel. I have never seen so many 2:55 padded bags, black and white trademark bicolour pumps or camellias brooches per square metre. While my eyes were itching in front of that many double-C logos, I started to wonder: is it like a social fashion code that when you attend a fashion show you have to wear the design er’s line? Would Karl feel upset if the audience is not as full of tweed and white pearls as the catwalk is? Obvious strategy for next fashion week: pulling on a total black and white tweed Chanel-like look. Maybe, I will manage to sneak in, lost in the middle of this homogenously all-alike crowd of trendsetters.

Last week, Polaroid announced that it has stopped permanently the production of its films. One step forward into the digital era I guess. Great photographers such as Kertész or Warhol used the instant-print camera in their work, make it part of photography history. Along the years, it has become too expensive to produce for the company. But fortunately, lovers of the little square pictures with bleached colours can still enjoy their romanticized reality for now. While stock last…YEN Digital
