WSPA
The World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) exists for one reason - animals worldwide desperately need their help. To achieve the WSPA vision - a world where animal welfare matters and animal cruelty ends - the UN-recognised charity works with hundreds of animal protection groups around the world to raise the standard of international animal welfare.
WSPA takes action against animal cruelty by exposing animal abuse and enforcing stronger laws, and provides rescue teams to save abandoned or neglected animals or those stricken by disasters.
To break the cycle of cruelty, WSPA's education programmes are changing hearts and minds so animals receive the respect and compassion they deserve.

Melbourne label Neo Tokyo launches fashion with a conscience for the World Society for the Protection of Animals
Melbourne label Neo Tokyo launches its new website today, featuring fashion with a conscience to raise awareness and funds for the World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA).

The launch of the website http://www.neotokyo.com.au with a key item, the Kujira Market Bag, which was designed by top Melbourne based fashion designer Jemma Browne and assisted by graphic designer Matthew Carmody, Russell Athletic Art Director. The Kujira Market Bag, Kujira meaning âwhaleâ in Japanese. The bag is made from gunmetal canvas and has a clean, delicate whale design printed on cotton lining. The metallic PU(poly urethane) handles are attached with gunmetal rings. It also features an inside zipped pocket and mobile phone pouch. Size 42cm(L)x 14.5cm(W) x 30.5cm(H). The Kujira bag is made from 100% man made materials.
For each bag purchased, Neo Tokyo will give $20 to WSPA to support its anti-whaling campaign. The campaign argues that there is no humane way to kill a whale at sea. Every whale that is hunted and killed is forced to endure excruciating pain and terror.
Louise Fitzsimons, Communications Manager for WSPA Australia, explains: âThe methods used in whaling are cruel, outdated and completely contradictory to current international guidelines for the humane slaughter of animals. The money raised by Neo Tokyo through the sale of the Kujira Market Bag will help WSPA continue our fight to protect whales all over the world.â
In addition to the Kujira Market Bag, 20% of the purchase price of all items available from the website http://www.neotokyo.com.au be given directly to WSPA.
Helen OâConnor from Neo Tokyo adds: âSince we were established in 1997, Neo Tokyo has always had a strong commitment to animal welfare. The launch of the new website begins a new era of our commitment to ending the cruelty and injustice inflicted upon animals all over the world.
âWe are looking forward to supporting WSPA on many future campaigns, while leading the development of the latest animal friendly fashion trends.â

There is something so tragic about a baby orangutan sitting alone on the rainforest floor. Too scared to even move. Her mother nowhere in sight. The tragedy lies in the baby's chance of survival if left without help. For every orphaned orangutan that lives through such an ordeal, there are on average three mothers and two infants who have perished. It is vital those fortunate enough to survive are given the care they need to one day return to a remote part of the forest where they belong.
That's why this year for WSPA World Animal Week (4-10 October) we'd like everyone to join us and GO BANANAS for ORANGUTANS: an event to raise money for the Nyaru Menteng Sanctuary in Indonesia, home to over 650 injured and orphaned orangutans and other animals around the world.
Here are just some of the ways you can take part:
GO BANANAS â Get sponsored to do something crazy, take part in an event or make something to sell.
BUY A WILD GIFT - Give something truly special, like anti-malarial medication for an orphaned orangutan.
WEAR WSPA MERCHANDISE â Buy a specially designed WSPA GO BANANAS T-shirt.
DROP A BANANA SKIN â Dare someone you know to do something crazy.
Whichever way you decide to get involved, your efforts will help create a safer and better world for animals.
Visit http://www.gobananas.org.au (Aus) or http://www.gobananas.org.nz (NZ) today and decide how you will Go Bananas for World Animal Week.
On behalf of the orangutans, thank you.
