You can tell Barry Feinstein is in command of his craft just by looking at his moustache. No ‘70s porn star styling here, just a distinguished white Poirot. A ridiculously accomplished photographer, he worked at Columbia Pictures in Hollywood during the late 1950s where he documented stars like Marlene Dietrich, Judy Garland, Charlton Heston and Jayne Mansfield in his down time. He then went on to become one of the most revered rock and roll snappers of his time, shooting album covers for the likes of Janis Joplin, George Harrison and Miles Davis. He was the sole photographer on Bob Dylan’s controversial “electric” tour and covered his tour again in ‘74. Blender Gallery is hosting an impressive selection of work from the Dylan years throughout July.
Bringing It All Back Home – Bob Dylan in Photographs is on display at Blender Gallery, Paddington NSW from Thursday July 2 – Tuesday August 3, 2010.
