Digby & Iona the War of 1812

By Alex English | 31 July 2012

In Digby & Iona’s new range you could don an eye patch and take to the sea to re-enact the War of 1812. Or, in a less drastic fashion, you could tell friends that you found buried treasure. You don’t need to tell them that you found the treasure on the internet, because when you flash your “If I tell you I have to kill you” ring at them, they’ll stop asking questions.

Digby & Iona’s newest collection is inspired by “the battles fought on commandeered merchant ships on the Great Lakes, and on the frontier over land in Canada and the east coast of the US.” The soldiers in these battles carried talismans from loved ones and waited three years to be reunited with them.

The collection features rings and pendants made of solid bronze, sterling silver, 14k gold, and such nautical materials as hand tea dyed braided cotton rope. Rings are engraved with etchings of ships, and bracelets have map markings that indicate Indian settlements.

You could say it’s like Peter Pan for grown ups.
