A new exhibition exploring fashion and art’s enduring love affair.
Fashion Loves Art Loves Fashion will take place at Sophie Gannon Gallery as part of the 2012 L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival. Featuring recent collaborations between Australian designers and artists, the luminous lineup includes Del Kathryn Barton, Romance was Born, Lucas Grogan, Rittenhouse, Something Else, Ken Done, Nan Goldin, Scanlan & Theodore, Josh Goot and John Nicholson.
Melbourne-based Lucas Grogan is the latest artist to team up with a visionary fashion label. Known for painting the town blue, he’s designed for Rittenhouse’s upcoming AW12 collection, transferring his distinctive prints to a highly wearable silk and cotton canvas.
Other highlights include ‘Get Goot’, a gleaming Perspex confection created by artist John Nicholson from the glass candy-like heels he designed for Josh Goot, while a quilt created by Romance was Born and Del Kathryn Barton for their Garden of Eden collection offers a patchwork party for the senses.
Fashion Loves Art Loves Fashion runs from Tuesday March 6 – Sunday March 17 at Sophie Gannon Gallery. More info at lmff.com.au.
