The Miramoda showcase featured a range of young Kiwi designers, many of whom referenced New Zealand’s heritage by incorporating woven flax garments, Maori poi-pois and even cow tags.
The evening ended with a bang at Huffer’s offsite show, which embraced the collection’s Tex Mex theme by serving up tacos, margaritas and mariachi music. The night’s “installation” had models walk the runway against a backdrop of photos taken by Mark Hunter, aka The Cobrasnake, who was on hand to photograph the crowd, and showcased the only really summery collection of the week. It was all shorts, tees and tanks, including a burrito party T-shirt which will become one of our summer festival staples.
