Flick on the lava lamp, heat up the fondue pot, run your fingers through that garish shag pile rug and get ready to kick it, seventies style. This month Melbourne-based label Flare Street is launching its new collection, ‘Be With You Everywhere’, inspired by the bold psychedelic designs of the ’60s and ’70s and the lush Byron Bay hinterland. It’s as if someone ripped the paisley right off of Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg’s matching jackets and wrapped them around Sonny and Cher’s bell-bottoms. With one eye firmly fixed on the past, Flare Street specialise in handmade, environmentally-friendly clothing with an emphasis on slow fashion and recycled fabrics. German photographer Rebecca Ruetten took the reins on the campaign, capturing the free-spirited and festival-ready aesthetic of Flare Street’s new Sahara and Casablanca pieces.
