Yes my friends, you're in for a treat! Hope Street Markets make a return this Autumn. And lucky for you, a relocation to Paddington Town Hall means an ever bigger list of independent designers for you to get excited about.  Hope Street Markets only comes around every three months and gives emerging design talent the chance to set up stall and sell all their lovely goodies. Specialising in kitsch and quirky, the Hope Street Markets are on this coming Saturday and Sunday on Oxford street. So get on down and go ga-ga over Jelly Edible's wearable treats, Sarah Russell's handmade shoes and whole range of other exquisitely designed clothes, jewellery, accessories and artwork. Oh, and don't forgot to take part in the raffle. There'll be a grand prize of donations from the designers for one lucky ducky to indulge his or herself in. Hope to see you all there!

One champagne with a dash of gossip on top, please.

Bitchiness has always being a problem for girls but now it seems to be getting out of control! Gossip is an issue that crosses generations but I’m sure the surge in popularity of Gossip Girl has only helped the process of glorifying gossip.

The Sydney magazine industry was, and still is, in turmoil with the blog 4inchheelsonly, exposing the ‘supposed’ dirty secrets of these mags. Maghag, as the blogger refers to herself, has already provoked heated debate about beauty editors and their freebies, as well as the realities of work experience and retrieving bananas for editors. Obviously inspired by these people, a person called Jane Smith has popped up on my Facebook friends. Suddenly, all hell broke loose in my university course. Jane uncovered (and I use that term loosely) gossip snippets about all the different year levels and exposed love interests, sexuality issues and unrequited love. At the start it was funny, you could have a little giggle like ‘Oh My God, did they really kiss?’ and ‘Oh, I saw that as well and thought it was interesting’ but then things took a turn for the worse and people were accused of being Jane and malicious gossip was spread. It wasn’t funny anymore. After a few weeks rest, Jane has arisen from the ashes again with more goss, and who knows where it is going to go now?

Psychologists and www experts always go on and on about the dangers of cyber bullying and I personally think the rise of ‘gossip blogs’ could be the next nasty thing on the ‘net. Teenage girls are so tech-savvy now and blogs could easily be started, ruining friendships and reputations through lies. I don’t know what can be done to stop it. Any ideas?

The Library of NSW in Sydney is now hosting once again the World Press Award Exhibition, a high-class photographic time capsule of 2007 with a range of pictures going from news to sports or entertainment. Among the list of lucky/deserving winners this year, there is Andrew Quilty a young talented Australian photographer who did a black and white photo essay on Maxwelton annual race in outback Queensland. “ I had about 10 messages waiting on my phone all saying congratulations. I took me about 3 messages to work out what they were all talking about” he recalls. “It wasn't something that I thought I would achieve for a very long time.” On May 22nd, Andrew Quilty will be to the Library to talk about his work. A rare opportunity to have an explanation straight from the artist himself. (Free but booking essential.)
GOOD SHOES, GOOD TIMES, GOOD FUN...

Good Shoes, Good Fun, Good Times had by all. Pick the odd one out. No? They’re a band responsible for the latter two, having rocked out the Bush Hall earlier this week in London to a fun crowd of super cool SUPERSWEET kids. If you didn’t make it, the chandeliers sparkled, the pink lights enchanted and Good Shoes seemed to pull the sunshine out of each of artist Rob Ryan’s stage projected stars. The artist himself was there to party on down with the punters. To support us all were L.A band THE PITY PARTY, who’s warbling, distorted basses and thumping drum performances shook a whole new vibe through the soul of the hall. Look out for them…and read more about us at www.supersweet.org

Are you partial to the odd long neck but have always wondered what to do with their ubiquitous brown paper bag? Well, artist Erin Forsyth had the right idea; at her recent solo show she had an entire wall filled illustrations made on longneck bags and now it appears the folks at Tooheys have followed suit. TED696 is a collaboration between street artists (those who can be most typically found in possession of a traveller) and Tooheys Extra Dry. Local artists DMOTE and Luca Ionescu together with Studio Number One/ Shepard Fairy have each created a limited edition brown paper bag that will be available in bottle shops soon. To celebrate, Tooheys are inviting YOU to create the fourth; head here to find out how you could score a Mac Book Pro and see your work published, exhibited and reproduced.

The other day I was in my local news agents when I spied a new issue of ID magazine. Did it contain gratuitous amount of booby? Yes. Did it carry the correct quota of largely unwearable Gareth Pugh outfits? Probably. What set this issue apart from it's predessecors was the fact that it was the Agyness Deyn issue. That's right; Agyness Deyn gussied up, Agyness Deyn sans-make-up, Agyness Deyn as a child, Agyness Deyn with her equally cool boyfriend and testimonials on Agyness Deyn from the likes of Henry Holland an Vivienne Westwood. The entire issue was dedicated to fashions face of the moment. Here's something else they could have stuck in there; Agyness Dean the singer. Above is the video for "who' the new single from New York band, Five O'Clock Heroes, which happens to feature the vocal talents of one Miss Deyn. What do you think?
